Less water stress, greater profits
Citrus trees are very sensitive to water stress.
During the first stages of fruit growth, the fruit cells expand rapidly. This cell growth, among other factors, determines the final fruit size. Fruit that stops growing during this stage is an early indicator of water stress and intervention should be applied as soon as possible.
Even at fruit maturity, water stress can impact the fruit quality (shelf life) and might even
increase the incidence of stem end rind breakdown.
Any reduction of the required water amount will come at the expense of production.
Conversely, efficient irrigation does not only avoid water-stress, but it can also have significant positive impacts including:
- The ability to increase the average size of the fruit while also maintaining quality.
- Better uniformity of size, quantity and quality.
- The option to fertigate (apply fertilizer through your irrigation system).
Discover how a Rivulis drip or micro-sprinkler/ jet irrigation system cannot only protect your crop against water stress, but how it can increase your farm’s profits.
